| Hotels
in Windsor
Out
of the many hotels in Windsor town centre there are some
classic ones such as The Castle Hotel and The Harte &
Garter Hotel which overlooks Windsor Castle. Also Sir Christopher
Wren's House Hotel & Spa is highly recommended. However,
for a more relaxing and spacious stay, especially for longer
stays of one week or more, you might want to consider self
catering apartments in Windsor.
Along
Alma Road in Windsor there are a few really good quality
bed and breakfast guest houses. Alma
House B&B has all ensuite self contained rooms with
free wireless broadband internet access. Alma House is a
family run B&B just a 5 minute walk into the main town
centre of Windsor and not far from the main hotels in Windsor.
For a more peaceful stay away from the hussle and bustle
of a thriving town, you might want to consider staying at
either an apartment in Windsor or a guest house in Windsor
instead of a hotel in Windsor. Guest houses tend to be slightly
cheaper and are usually run by young families who offer
a warm welcome and local knowledge of what to do and where
to eat in Windsor town centre.

Short
term weekly
rental apartments in Windsor are ideal if you are thinking
of staying in a hotel in Windsor for more than a few nights
and need the space and comfort of an apartment. Being able
to cook for yourself is also an added bonus although there
are plenty of fabulous restaurants in Windsor. Hotels can
also be slightly prohibitive price-wise as you are paying
for the convenience of a short stay plus things like rooms
service being available and night porters etc. But if you
don't need these kind of things then staying in a self-catering
apartment for a few weeks or months can often be a better
solutuon.
Information
about Windsor
(from information-britain.co.uk)
The
enchanting town of Windsor is in Berkshire and borders Eton,
the castle stands majestically on a hill overlooking the
River Thames, and has been home to many monarchs over the
last 900 years. A trip around the private apartments will
show treasures from times past with paintings by Rubens,
Rembrandt and Van Dyke, the special gem in the crown is
the wonderful Dolls House that belonged to Queen Mary, with
working chandeliers, and a grandfather clock that chimes
every hour, the enchanting dolls house took three years
to build and is testimony to the craftsmen who constructed
it lovingly. St Georges Chapel is home to the Order of The
Garter and the architecture is stunning, started by Edward
1V and finally completed by Henry V111, if you time your
visit right you can watch the pageantry of the Queen parading
with the Order members as they walk in ceremonial procession
to the chapel, where ten previous monarchs are buried. Runnymede
is only three miles away and is where the Magna Carta was
signed, or for the lovers of water, a walk along the river
front will share the beauty of the scenery and wildlife,
where boats and swans glide elegantly, artists pack an extra
paint brush as there is much to capture. For a quickening
pace of heart why not visit Windsor Races, or how about
Royal Ascot where the Queen attends, and ladies dress to
impress on Ladies Day. Or there is Thorpe Park with scintillating
rides such as Nemesis, Stealth and Colossus. Or perhaps
Legoland where you can travel through an indoor Rainforest,
visit an Enchanted Forest, or choose from fifty rides. For
the story of the Household Cavalry a trip to Horse Guards
Parade will uncover the mystery of the last three hundred
years….. Windsor’s magic is everlasting.
